Hotel Near Pacific Grove and Lovers Point
Pacific Grove begins just past Cannery Row, about 10 minutes from Stargazer Hotel. It is a quiet seaside town of Victorian homes and a walkable downtown, with one of the prettiest stretches of shoreline on the Peninsula along Ocean View Boulevard.
Lovers Point Park has a small beach, lawns above the rocks, and views back across the bay to Monterey. From about October through February, western monarch butterflies overwinter in the Monarch Grove Sanctuary, which is why Pacific Grove is nicknamed Butterfly Town, U.S.A.
Tips
- Walk or bike Ocean View Boulevard for tide pools, sea otters, and harbor seals along the shore.
- Visit the monarch sanctuary on a sunny, mild day, when the butterflies are most active. Numbers vary from year to year.
- Point Pinos Lighthouse and Asilomar State Beach are a short drive farther along the coast.
