Hotel Near Carmel-by-the-Sea
Carmel-by-the-Sea is a short drive south of Stargazer Hotel on Highway 1. The village is known for its storybook cottages, art galleries, wine tasting rooms, and tucked-away courtyards, and Ocean Avenue runs downhill through town to Carmel Beach, a wide sweep of white sand.
Just outside the village, the Carmel Mission is one of the most beautiful of California's historic missions. Point Lobos and the Carmel gate of 17-Mile Drive are both close by, so Carmel pairs easily with either.
Tips
- Park once and explore on foot. The village is compact and best enjoyed slowly.
- Many Carmel homes and some shops have names instead of street numbers, so search by business name in your map app.
- Carmel Beach is a favorite spot for sunset, and it is known for being dog-friendly. Check current city rules before you go.
